Daryl Powell
Sheffield Eagles Heritage Number 3
Daryl was added to the Hall of Fame in 2009
Daryl Powell
Daryl Powell achieved many firsts for the Sheffield Eagles. He was the first player Gary Hetherington signed, he was the first player to score five tries in a game for the Club and he was the first Eagles’ player to play for Great Britain. Daryl was a remarkable player who very soon could have moved on to a bigger club but stayed at the Eagles. As captain he took The Club to its first promotion, suffered the agony of relegation but helped The Club back into the First Division. He was one of the most gifted and committed players of his generation forming a half back partnership with Mark Aston that was at the heart of the success of Sheffield Eagles for a number of years.
