Sheffield Eagles v Newcastle Thunder
On Friday 23rd June the Sheffield Eagles played their next game of the 2023 season, home to Newcastle Thunder
The Eagles have already played Newcastle twice this season, so we look back to the third time that the teams ever played each other.
The third game against each other
Sheffield Eagles and Newcastle played each other for the third time on 24th January 2001, when they were known as Gateshead Thunder. It was a home game at Don Valley Stadium with the Eagles winning 38-12 in front of a crowd of 753.
There were tries from Neil Kite and Richard Goddard, with two tries each from Ian Thompson and Scott Rhodes. Richard Goddard also score 7 goals.
