We look back to the first time that Sheffield Eagles played Toulouse Olympique.

The first game against each other

Sheffield Eagles and Toulouse OIympique played each other for the first time on 8th March 2009 in the Challenge Cup at Don Valley Stadium, in front of a crowd of 1.554. The Eagles won the game 22-6 after being 6-0 down at half time. Try scorers were Johnny Woodcock, Damian Gibson, Brendon Lindsay and Sam Barlow with 3 goals from Johnny Woodcock. That season the Eagles managed to reach the last 16 of the Challenge Cup, losing to Hull KR.

In 2009 the Eagles were in the Championship, as were Toulouse, so it wasn't long before they faced each other again - just under two weeks- away at Stade Ernest-Argelès with the Eagles once again winning 18-12.

Playing at 13 for Toulouse Olympique in both games was Sylvain Houles, now head coach for the Club.
