Waisale Sovatabua

Waisale Sovatabua ranks as one of the best overseas players to have played for the Sheffield Eagles. The Fijian international had only played one season of rugby league before coming to England and signing for the Eagles. He was a dual code international who soon settled into The Club becoming a popular player with fans and fellow players. He was a strong, exciting, pacey runner at either wing or fullback who was always liable to do the unexpected to the delight of the fans. He was at fullback in the 1998 Challenge Cup winning team and after signing for other clubs returned to Sheffield as a back row forward, before joining the coaching staff.
