Hall of Fame - Added in 2023

Jon Bruce joined the Sheffield Eagles at a time of great change, following the merger with Huddersfield Giants in 1999. A new Club returned at short notice and Jon was one of those who answered the call, having being on the verge of returning to the amateur game. His captaincy of the team in the new era helped guide the Club through those difficult early stages, laying the foundations for the Eagles as they are today. Not only did he play in the first game of the new era against Lancashire Lynx but he scored the first try of the new era. Jon played for five seasons for the Eagles, describing it as the best time of his life in Rugby League. Jon returned to the amateur game as both a player and coach and sadly died in 2023, but is remembered by both players and fans as a gentle giant.
