Record Transfer Fee

Lee Jackson signed for Sheffield Eagles from Hull F.C. for a Club record fee of £83,000 which made him the most expensive hooker at the time. However, the start of his Sheffield career didn’t go to plan for the Great Britain international as he ended his season in red and gold with a win rate of just over 50% having recorded only four tries in 14 matches.

Debut

Jackson made his Eagles debut in a 14-40 loss to Halifax at the Don Valley Stadium in 1993. This was his first of 26 Sheffield appearances during the 1993/94 season. Jackson played starting hooker for the first game of his Sheffield career as he would do for the majority of that season.

Fastest Ever Try

During his time at his home town club of Hull F.C. Jackson recorded what was fat that time the fastest ever try in both codes of Rugby as he scored after just 9 seconds against the Eagles. The match was the Semi-Final of the 1992 Yorkshire Cup and was played on Tuesday 6th October 1992 at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium. It ended in a 12-8 victory for the home side but was immortalised by Jackson’s try. Sheffield went on to loss the final 16-29 to Wakefield Trinity just 12 days later.
