Hall of Fame - added in 2009
Mark Aston is “Mr Sheffield Eagles”. As a player he holds the records for the most appearances and most points for The Club – records that may never be broken. He is also the only Sheffield Eagles player to have won the Lance Todd Trophy, man of the match award at the Challenge Cup Final 1998. He would be worthy of a place in the Hall of Fame based just on his playing career but his contribution off the field is just as great, if not greater. He was one of the key people involved in re-establishing a club in the Sheffield after the ill-fated merger in 1999. His commitment to the Sheffield Eagles since then is without question. He has battled not only through setting up a new club but the various challenges after, including 9 years without a permanent base in the City following the demolition of Don Valley Stadium. Without a doubt there would be no Sheffield Eagles without Mark Aston.
