Mark Gamson, was the second ever Sheffield Eagles signing by Gary Hetherington. When The Club was set up it was intended to be a hard tackling side that would outlast their opponents over 80 minutes. Mark Gamson couldn’t have fitted the description better. For many people Mark Gamson is a central figure in the history of the first 10 years of The Club. It felt like he was ever present, playing almost every position, after being a half back and fullback in his early years. He was always a fan favourite for his guts, determination, wholehearted commitment and courage. Even over 25 years since he last played for The Club he remains second in the all time appearances list, with only Mark Aston ahead of him.
