Menzie Yere, is a club legend - for his uncompromising style, his ability to run through tackles and his try scoring record. He was another of Mark Aston’s astute overseas signings, spotting players that other clubs seem to have missed. He was signed after an impressive performance for Papua New Guinea in the 2008 World Cup. During his 11 year career he seemed to defy age and injuries by continuing to play at centre for The Club. He maintained his reputation as a player that other players feared when they saw him running towards them. Menzie holds The Club record for most tries ever as he had an ability to find or create space to the try line that others could never find, as well as offloading to create tries for others.
