Mick Cook

Mick Cook joined the Sheffield Eagles from the amateur game, having been convinced that he was good enough for the professional game. His preferred position was second row, but his size was better suited to hooker, a position he made his own during his time at The Club. His prodigious tackling along with his ability to hunt and chase, put opposition players under pressure. He was key to the success of The Club during his nearly 10 years with the Eagles, making him a legend of the Don Valley era. He won various Player of the Year awards, including those voted for by his fellow players for four consecutive years. After ending his playing career, he re-joined The Club as assistant coach to Mark Aston for three years.
