Hall of Fame - added in 2022
Mitchell Stringer was brought up in Barnsley and joined the Sheffield Eagles after playing at an amateur level for Hoyland Vikings. As his raw talent was shaped at the Eagles he made rapid progress, developing an aggressive and powerful style. He was particularly effective at joining games from the bench when he could make a major impact. He left the Club at the end of 2003 for experience in the Super League but returned in 2006. Despite the time away he still ranks fourth in the list of all time appearances for The Club. He was a strong, bustling prop forward with a deceptive break who was also a goalkicker, adding to his points scoring record for The Club. Mitch played during a golden era for The Club and is fondly remembered by fans not only for his playing style but also for his love of Batman.
