Hall of Fame - added in 2022
Paul Carr signed for the Sheffield Eagles in 1992 after playing for Hunslet, having moved to England from South Sydney in the Winfield Cup. Many consider Paul one of the best signings ever for The Club, not just one of the best ever overseas signings. He was one of the longest serving and most effective Australian players to play for the Club. He was an extremely strong back row forward, whose ability to read the game and back up other players meant he scored plenty of tries. He played at international level for Scotland and was part of the winning team at the Challenge Cup in 1998. During that game, he proved as always to be a threat, with his driving runs, coming back from the subs’ bench at a critical time. For fans of the Eagles from the 1990s Paul remains a favourite, whose commitment and attitude endeared him to everyone.
